Fall Teaching Academy

Aug. 19 | 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Zoom

Our annual Fall Teaching Academy is a university-wide gathering of UAA faculty across all campuses. Broad participation from faculty across disciplines and campuses is crucial so faculty can learn about the resources available, hear about new strategies of effective teaching, and build community outside of your immediate colleagues in your department or college.

All UAA faculty are welcomed and encouraged to attend FTA. This year’s event will feature discussions on Blackboard, AI, classroom behavior, accessibility, testing, and more. The final schedule will be emailed to all participants when they register. Questions about FTA can be directed to uaa_design@alaska.edu. We hope to see you there!

Register for Fall Teaching Academy

And if you are an adjunct faculty member, you are more than welcome to join us at FTA! Since adjunct schedules can be so variable, we understand day events may not work for you. That is why we have our Adjunct Academy & Orientation in the evening on Aug. 21 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Zoom. This event will focus on student care, Blackboard, and teaching resources and support. Questions about Adjunct Academy & Orientation can be directed to Andria Cross at apcross@alaska.edu. (Registration link is the same link as for Fall Teaching Academy.)

Embracing UAA's Role as a Community Partner

Since 2006, UAA has been recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a “Community Engaged Institution.”

UAA uses the Carnegie Foundation's definition of community engagement for our work with communities: "Community Engagement describes the collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity."

The Center for Community Engagement and Learning serves as a central locus for the intersection of student learning, faculty research, and community engagement.
