The following instructional technology tools are available to faculty teaching distance education or traditional courses. These are instructional technology tools that allow the enhancement of the student experience inside and outside the classroom.
These tools are free or free to try and we’ve tried to include both cloud based applications as well as desktop applications that you can download. Most will work on both PC and Macintosh.

Google Docs - Google Docs is more than just creating online documents, spreadsheets and presentations. With Google Docs, you can access your files from anywhere, share them with the people you choose, and work together in real time.
Open Office - Apache OpenOffice is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose
GIMP - GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
Inkscape - Inkscape is a free and open source software vector graphics editor. Its goal is to implement full support for the Scalable Vector Graphics 1.1 standard. It is both free and open source.
Krita - With a full feature-set, configurable gui and a strong focus on plain productivity, Krita is at home on every artist's desktop. Krita Desktop is available for Windows and for Linux.
Blender - Blender is a free and open source 3D animation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline-modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.
Pixlr - Pixlr is a cloud-based set of image tools and utilities, including a number of photo editors, a screen grabber browser extension, and a photo sharing service.
Screencast-O-Matic - Screencast-O-Matic is a free screen recorder for instant screen capture and sharing. Use it right in your browser without an install at Screencast-O-Matic.com or download to run anytime.
Jing - Try Jing for a free and simple way to capture basic video, animation, and still images, and share them on the web. Jing videos are limited to 5 minutes for instant, focused communication.
Video Toolbox - Online video editor capable of processing video files up to 600 MB. It converts your files between all of the popular video formats. You can crop video with just few clicks. It also records video from your webcam or another movie device.
