The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Graduate School offers 6 doctoral and more than 20 Master's degree programs, and 9 graduate certificate programs. UAA offers cooperative/collaborative graduate programs with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the University of Washington Medical School, Idaho State University, East Carolina University, and Creighton University. The Graduate School enrolls over 600 students in graduate studies from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and around the world.

Masters and doctoral programs are available for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree. UAA offers graduate programs in the sciences, engineering, occupational therapy, project management, social work, education and more.

Financial Aid and Funding

At UAA, many graduate students receive financial aid to help them complete their graduate studies. Some students are awarded assistantships in teaching or research which cover much of the cost of their education.

Graduate Funding Opportunities

NOAA's Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship is a two-year program through the National Estuarine Research Reserve system in which graduate students conduct collaborative research to address coastal challenges. To learn more about the Margaret A. The application period is open until December 4, 2023 for the fellowship starting in fall 2024. 

Each fellow is encouraged to reach out to the reserve they are interested in working with to ensure their project addresses a key management need to help scientists and communities understand coastal challenges that may influence future policy and management strategies. Greetings from Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. Ryota Uehara, an associate professor in Hokkaido University's Faculty of Advanced Life Science is posting this exciting opportunity and call for International Graduate Program (IGP) special MEXT scholarship students for October 2024 enrollment.

The IGP is a program for those who wish to pursue graduate studies in the life sciences at Hokkaido University's Graduate School of Life Science. The IGP program was accepted as a special recipient of MEXT scholarship again. Seven doctoral students and one master's student will be funded.

Interested students should contact prospective supervisors to discuss their suitability for this scholarship as soon as possible.
After a professor agrees to sponsor a student, application documents should be submitted to the supervisor, who will be subsequently submit to the IGP administration office by December 27, 2023.

Training Opportunity: Are you interested in research to prevent Veteran Suicide, a critical public health priority in the U.S.? The VA’s Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention has launched a new virtual Suicide Prevention and Health Disparities Research Training Program (learn more about us on our website). Our goal is to enhance knowledge, interest, and potential entrance of diverse researchers into veteran suicide research. This competitive 8-week program exposes participants to state-of-the-art clinical and public health suicide research approaches, study of health disparities in this area, and “hands on” mentored research experience.

Eligibility: Graduate students in medical, health or allied health professional programs with special interest in populations underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical, or social sciences.

Hertz Fellowships are awarded annually to the nation’s most promising graduate students in science and technology. Recipients receive five years of funding, valued at up to $250,000, and the freedom to pursue innovative ideas wherever they may lead. Deadline: Application period opens August 15.

  • January 15, 2024: Contract Letters for Spring Graduate Assistants submitted to Graduate School
  • January 26, 2024: Health Insurance Enrollment last deadline for spring semester enrollment
  • March 22, 2024: Deadline to enroll in Continuous Registration, Thesis or Project courses. 
  • May 4, 2024: Graduate Degree Hooding Ceremony for Spring graduates.
