Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Alaska Anchorage! We look forward to welcoming you to campus. We hope that this information will help you to transition to your Graduate Program.
The University of Alaska Anchorage is a comprehensive metropolitan university situated at the heart of a vast and magnificent state. Located on the edge of the nation’s last great wilderness, UAA is far from remote in the things that matter to students. Innovative programs, a world class faculty, and a brand new state-of-the art library are just the beginning.
This link provides a one-page menu of all the services and departments that you may need when you first come to UAA. While the list is not exhaustive, we hope you have the information that you require. If we've missed something, please contact us by calling 786-1096.
New Student Orientation facilitates the integration of new students into the academic, intellectual, and social culture of the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Howl Days will afford you the opportunity to make valuable connections with UAA students, staff and faculty while getting accurate information about life at UAA. This will relieve common anxieties about starting college. New students who make these connections tend to be more successful in their transition to college, more likely to be satisfied with their college experience, achieve better grades and graduate.
Please join us for the whole day of programs designed to give you a welcome to your new home here at the University of Alaska Anchorage. This is a great opportunity to network with others in your discipline. You'll meet your faculty and connect with your adviser. There is a Resource Fair in the evening along with a reception that will be attended by the Chancellor, Provost, Vice Provosts, Deans, Directors and the departmental staff. As a bonus incentive, as if you needed more, you'll have a chance to win cool prizes including tickets to Seawolf events, an annual parking pass, gift cards and other items donated by individual departments at UAA. We look forward to meeting you on the 23rd of August at the UAA Consortium Library (the building with the green light sabre of knowledge on top).
There are many resources available to facilitate your move to Anchorage. Gone are the days of steamer ships and dog sleds as the primary means of transportation. We would recommend you review the links listed below.
We play a major role in creating new opportunities for students to learn and practice elements of leadership. Our programs encompass civic responsibility, community development, and social engagement. The experiences develop ethical leadership, diverse campus programming, and effective communication.
UAA applicants must satisfy general academic admission requirements. Some international applicants will need to meet additional requirements as noted on academic department web pages.
