Achieving Top Search Engine Positions for your Webpage In this course, you'll gain the knowledge you need to boost your website's visibility. You'll discover how search engines crawl the Web, rank websites, and find previously undiscovered sites, and learn which HTML tags are key to getting sites on a search engine's radar. You'll also explore how to select keywords, why you should amass as many potential keyword choices as possible, and which keywords hold the most potential.

Basic Computer Skills Level I

Designed for the new computer user, this class familiarizes individuals with a personal computer and its operating system as well as introduces how to organize and manage files. Basic Computer Skills Level II
This second level class is designed for those with a bit more experience using computers. Learn to create and use an email account; navigate the Internet and understand basic search engine usage; and create, edit and save online job applications. Learn basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills for letters and resumes and to manage simple spreadsheets in Excel.

Career Step Certified Computer Technician 

The Continuing Education Department has partnered with Career Step, LLC to bring you a Certified Computer Technician training program designed to prepare you for CompTIA A+ certification. You can be confident that you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to earn your CompTIA A+ certification immediately upon completion of the course. Curriculum is built on exam objectives published by CompTIA, with midterm and final exams designed to mirror the A+ exams to measure readiness for certification exams. Two certification exam vouchers are provided upon completion to make it even easier to certify.

This program primarily focuses on Windows operating systems as does the CompTIA A+ certification, but can be completed on a Mac computer; however, all hands-on labs require a Windows operation system.

Computer Essentials for Today 

Learn to successfully and effectively navigate the Internet based on understanding the structure of online information. Develop basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Participants will receive a basic overview of presentation software and relational databases. Course fees include a student workbook and flash drive.

This course is part of the Bridge to College & Careers Workforce Credential but may be taken as an individual class.

Creating and Airing Podcasts 

Learn how to set up and maintain your own online Podcast using GarageBand! One of the hottest new things, this tool can be used for fun or for work. Discover how easy it is to post and publicize an online audio (or video) program to a worldwide audience. Course uses Mac laptop in class for creation; students are welcome to bring their own picture files and video files to use.

GarageBand is a Macintosh program. Instructor will share other platforms to use on a PC.

Creating Mobile Apps with HTML5

In this course, you'll learn how to imagine, design, build, and optimize a cross-platform mobile app using the very latest HTML5 standards. The result will be a mobile app that's fast and runs on just about any smartphone or tablet computer.

Creating Web pages 

Create and post your very own Web site on the Internet using HTML in this extensive, hands-on, six week workshop. First, you'll learn about the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the fundamentals of web design. Then, with your instructor's patient guidance, you'll plan the content, structure and layout of your Web site, create pages full of neatly formatted text, build links between the pages and to the outside world, and add color, backgrounds, graphics, and tables. You'll also learn critical and timely information on securing the best possible location in search engine listings, and powerful no-cost or low-cost web marketing strategies.

Creating WordPress Websites 

Learn how to use WordPress, a free and popular Web design tool, to quickly and easily create attractive blogs and interactive websites.

Facebook for Personal Use 

Learn to use Facebook to connect with friends and family all around the world. In this fun evening class, we'll show you how to create a profile, create a friend list and even how to create photo albums with your favorite pictures to share.

Google Analytics 

If you are not reviewing your website statistics, then you are missing several key opportunities to profit from your website traffic. This course, aimed at non-technical users, will take you through all the key techniques and how to use website analytics using the world-standard Google Analytics, a free online tool.

You'll understand your visitor traffic better, learn how to calculate return on investment (ROI) for your online advertising, and find out how to get more conversions and sales from your website visitors. A must for anyone serious about leverage more success from their website.

InDesign Level 1 

A hands-on class to learn basic tools of InDesign, how it integrates with Creative Suite, how to use tools to lay out posters, ads, documents, and basic principles of design and typography.

Please bring a flash drive for use during class. Bring a project if desired.

A refrigerator and microwave are available for a 30-minute lunch break. Please plan to bring a lunch.

InDesign Level II

This hands-on continuation course adds to basic knowledge of InDesign to create more advanced products.

Prerequisite: Basic experience using InDesign or completion of our InDesign Level I course. Bring a lunch (refrigerator and microwave are available) for a 30-minute lunch break.
