You may view the status of existing applications for graduation in UAOnline by selecting "View Application to Graduate" beneath the "Apply to Graduate" link.

Students may pay the $50 application fee via UAOnline or in person with Cashiering at the University Center. Students will not be required to provide immediate payment when submitting their UAOnline application for graduation.

Students with graduation-specific holds on their accounts are currently unable to apply for graduation through UAOnline. Please contact degrees@uaa.alaska.edu for further instruction.

The Registrar's Office prints diplomas at the beginning of each month for all students who earned their degree in the month prior (i.e. diplomas will be printed at the beginning of June for degrees awarded in May).

Application for graduation deadlines are the Friday before finals for the semester in which the student intends to graduate. Students wishing to have their name in the commencement ceremony program must apply to graduate by the following deadlines:

  • November 1 - Fall graduation
  • April 1 - Spring graduation

Students with a directory hold on their account will be removed from the program prior to printing and will not be included in any other commencement-related publications.

A student pursuing an Occupational Endorsement Certificate should also apply for graduation.  Occupational endorsement certificates are awarded by the offering academic unit rather than at commencement. Students should check with their advisers to determine what arrangements are followed.

Students who apply for graduation and do not complete their degree/certificate requirements by the end of the semester in which they have applied to graduate, but are within six or fewer credits of completion, will have their application for graduation moved to the following semester by the Office of the Registrar (spring to summer, summer to fall or fall to spring).  This courtesy change will granted one time.  Students with more than six outstanding credits of requirements remaining, or who have six credits or fewer remaining for a second semester, must apply for graduation and pay another application fee.
