Journalism and Public Communications Assistant Professor Joy Mapaye's dissertation received the Broadcast Education Association's Harwood Outstanding Dissertation Award.
Mapaye took a two-year leave to do doctoral coursework at the University of Oregon and defended her dissertation titled, "Viral viewers: Examining the role of parasocial interaction on local TV news website visitors' loyalty and commitment" in summer 2010.
