James W. Muller
, Ph.D., is professor of political science at UAA, academic chair of the Churchill Centre and a by-fellow of Churchill College, Cambridge. He has authored numerous books and edited several by Winston Churchill including the newest editions of "Thoughts and Adventures" and "Great Contemporaries."

"Great Contemporaries," the focus of this talk, was originally written by Churchill in the decade before he became prime minister. In it, he profiles other major figures of the period including Franklin Roosevelt, Adolf Hitler, Lawrence of Arabia, Leon Trotsky, Charlie Chaplin, H. G. Wells, Rudyard Kipling and George Bernard Shaw. The new edition, published earlier this year by ISI Books, features an introduction and annotations by Muller, five previously unpublished essays by Churchill and more than 30 photographs.
