Interdisciplinary Education: Learning from the experience of the College of Health Disciplines at the University of British Columbia, Nov. 29

The College of Health Dean's Office is sponsoring the third in a series of faculty development seminars on the topic of interdisciplinary education. On Nov. 29 in HSB 103, there will be a videoconference with three faculty members from the College of Health Disciplines at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

"Established in 2001, the College of Health Disciplines (CHD) has influenced the development of curricula around collaborative practice in health professional education within UBC, provincially and nationally... It is viewed nationally and internationally as an innovative model to advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice." (College of Health Disciplines - University of British Columbia, Strategic Plan for 2007-2010)

Joining the videoconference from UBC will be:

  • Louise Nasmith, M.D., principal of the College of Health Disciplines
  • Victoria Wood, project manager in the College of Health Disciplines
  • Elsie Tan, M.S.N., R.N., senior instructor in the School of Nursing

The interactive session will explore the history and development of UBC's College of Health Disciplines, what has worked and what has been problematic in developing and delivering interprofessional education.
