Michael Brady will be defending his thesis, "An algorithm for systematic integration of information technology management processes using event-driven process chains and business process model notation." The public is welcome to attend.

Abstract: Information technology (IT) managers have spent millions of dollars implementing IT governance, IT project management, enterprise architecture and IT operations management programs with mixed results. IT organizations continue to struggle to meet expectations of their parent organization and their own management. These programs, while important to IT organization, must be integrated to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency. This thesis proposes a general approach to integrating IT management processes within IT governance, IT project management, enterprise architecture and IT operations management. The proposed algorithm leverages well-known, simple-to-use tools to provide insights into the relationships among the processes, identify specific points of integration and model future-state processes. This systematic approach to IT management process integration can increase the benefit of IT governance, IT project management, enterprise architecture and IT operations management programs. The algorithm is applied to a case study organization and the future result simulated.
