Greetings!

The College of Arts and Sciences is a welcoming and diverse academic community, providing a world-class, Alaska-rooted education that prepares students for the challenges of today and tomorrow through educational excellence, transformative research, creative expression, and community engagement. This year, the college has been working on our 2027 Strategic Plan to outline our future goals that align with UAAs plan.

Our CAS faculty and staff are focused more than ever on the student experience and in helping students fulfill their educational goals. By putting students first we aim to enhance student experience through curricular and co-curricular opportunities. By embracing our differences, we strive to learn from one another, champion diversity, and allow all people to be seen and heard. Student persistence is most directly tied to engagement, a feeling of being connected, and the openness of their environment. We focus on being the public square, by elevating community engagement on campus and beyond. One of the ways we will be doing this is by hosting a CAS Community Lecture Series.

The College of Arts and Sciences is home to inquisitive, interesting, and inspiring voices. We aim to provide an environment with world class creativity by demonstrating the global reach and local relevance of our education, research, and creative activity. I am continually impressed with our inspirational faculty and dedicated staff as we build a collaborative community through increased recognition, support, and effectiveness.

I invite you to visit our websites and social media channels to learn more about our amazing accomplishments from cutting-edge research, to innovative programs in service to the community, to artistic endeavors. I also invite you to attend one of our events or lectures; details can be found on our college event calendar

Together we can Transform Lives for Today and Tomorrow!
