Biography
Jelly Firmin is Koyukon and Gwich’in Athabascan. She is from Tanana and Fort Yukon
Alaska. Previously, Jelly worked as a research assistant on projects concerning internalized
oppression in Alaska Natives and postpartum depression screening practices for providers
in Alaska and Hawaii. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology at the University of
Alaska Anchorage and plans to pursue her PhD in clinical psychology. She desires to
use her education to research suicide prevention methods and treatments for Alaska
Native people that combine traditional healing practices and western medicine.
