The UAA School of Nursing held its first hybrid white coat ceremony on Sept. 7, 2023 to celebrate the student's decision to become a professional nurse.

"The ceremony today is an occasion to honor you in the presence of your family, friends, faculty, and staff, and to acknowledge that the educational and practice journey that you are embarking on is more than studying books and practicing skills, but rather a commitment to a profession that is both an art and a science that engages your heart and your mind," said Kristin Lutz, UAA School of Nursing Associate Director.

The event welcomes students to their new profession, emphasizes the importance of compassion in patient care and acknowledges students' initiation into the nursing profession. All students received a pin and graduate students also received white coats signifying the start of their clinical rotations.
