    Riza Brown holds an AAS in Culinary Arts and a BA in Journalism from UAA. Upon graduation, Professor Brown started a catering company (currently still in operation), which is invaluable experience for her Catering Management class. Her professional experience also includes working in restaurants for over 20 years in every capacity possible and food writing and restaurant reviewing for the Anchorage Daily News, F Magazine, 61 Degrees North and various other publications. Besides Catering Management, Professor Brown teaches Quantity Purchasing, Hospitality Concept and Design, Beverage Management, Hospitality and various culinary workshops. She is a faculty advisor for the Culinary Club and is an advocate for community through culinary togetherness.

    Chef Lukas joined the program in 2023 and currently teaches nutrition, sanitation, and baking courses. He started his education in local Culinary programs in Anchorage, and also holds an AOS in Culinary arts (2005) from Le Cordon Bleu’s Western Culinary Institute.

    Chef Lukas comes from the restaurant industry with over 20 years of professional culinary experience, some of which was teaching Culinary Arts for the ASD program at King Tech High School.

    When Lukas isn’t working, he likes to cook delicious foods and travel, with France being a location of interest.

    Chef Kellie Puff joined the program in 2018. She holds an AAS in Culinary Arts (2002) and a BA Hospitality and Restaurant Management (2013) from UAA. Chef has 10 years teaching experience from ASD’s King Tech Culinary Arts Program as well as many years working in restaurants around Anchorage. She is a member of the American Culinary Federation and holds a certification through them as a Certified Working Pastry Chef. She enjoys mentoring students for baking competitions and making delicious pastries for all to enjoy!

    Chef Noah is a graduate and alumni of the Culinary Arts program at UAA. He currently teaches Culinary Skills Development and  À La Carte kitchen. Prior to being an instructor at UAA he spent almost 10 years in the industry mostly as the general manager and executive chef at Table 6.  Chef has really enjoyed all the challenges and learning opportunities that he has encountered working in the hospitality industry and now it is a great pleasure to share that knowledge with his students.  See you in the kitchen!

    Whitney Flores is the Academic Advisor for Culinary Arts & Hospitality Administration. She is a UAA alumna, earning her Bachelor of Science in Environment and Society with a minor in Nutrition. Whitney has 20 years of experience working in customer service and the restaurant industry. She is an advocate for creating a sense of place through food. Whitney is passionate about student success and helping students navigate through their programs.
