UAA Alert! Anchorage Campus Inclement Weather Notice for Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024

Due to unsafe road conditions for Anchorage and the surrounding areas, UAA’s Anchorage campus will remain closed today, Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Students and faculty, when campus is closed for inclement weather, online and hybrid courses should continue in an online format. Courses that are held in person but that can pivot to an online format for the day should do so.

Staff, remote work can and should continue if adverse weather conditions permit. Employees who have remote work agreements in place, as well as those who can effectively pivot to working remotely, should do so even on closure days whenever possible.

Transcripts for Admission

Transcripts are required for most admission types. The UAA Admissions team reviews academic history as part of the admission process.

How to Submit Your Transcript for Admission

Order a Secure Electronic Transcript

Transcripts can be sent directly from the issuing institution to UAA Admissions through a secure electronic transcript service. Direct the service to send transcripts to: application-documents@alaska.edu

Required Transcripts for Admission

The transcripts required for admission to UAA vary depending on the applicant's level of education. Here is an overview of what is required for each level.

General Guidelines

First-Year

First-year applicants are students who have earned (or will soon earn) a high school diploma or GED and have earned less than 24 semester college credits after graduation.

  • High School Transcripts
    If you’re still attending high school

    Applicants who are still attending high school must submit a partial transcript during their senior year and provide an expected graduation date on their application for admission.

    If you’ve completed high school

    Applicants who have completed high school (or GED/HiSET) must provide a final transcript along with graduation date.

    Anchorage School District graduates can order transcripts online with the Anchorage School District request for transcripts form.

  • GED

    Students who earned a GED rather than a high school diploma will be required to provide an official GED score report issued from the state which awarded the GED.

    Students who earned their GED in Alaska can request an official GED transcript using the State of Alaska GED Transcript Request form.

    Important Note: Non-high school graduates without a GED should see the UAA catalog for more information.

  • College Credits
    • Final and official transcripts are required from every institutionally accredited institutions attended, including attendance during high school.
    • An in-progress transcript can be submitted for admission. A final transcript will be required after grades are posted to that transcript in order to receive transfer credit for any in-progress coursework.
    • Transcripts are not required from any University of Alaska campus.

Transfer

Transfer applicants have attended college after earning a high school diploma or GED and earned at least 24 semester college credits at another institution.

  • High School or GED Transcripts
    • Students transferring to UAA with fewer than 24 college level credits will be required to submit a final and official high school transcript. 
    • Non-high school graduates will be required to provide an official GED score report issued from the state which awarded the GED. Students who earned their GED in Alaska can request an official GED transcript.
  • College Transcripts
    • Final and official transcripts are required from every institutionally accredited institution attended.
    • An in-progress transcript can be submitted for earlier admission. A final transcript will be required after grades are posted to that transcript in order to receive transfer credit for any in-progress coursework.
    • Transcripts are not required from any University of Alaska campus.

Graduate

Graduate applicants have been awarded a baccalaureate degree from an institutionally accredited institution and are applying for a Master or Doctoral level degree.

College Transcripts
  • UAA Admissions will require an official and final transcript from the institution which issued the undergraduate degree.
  • Official, final transcripts are required for all graduate level work.
  • Additional undergraduate transcripts may be required if a large portion of credits were earned at more than one institution.

International

International Transcripts
  • US or English Canadian transcripts can be sent directly to UAA.
  • Kenyan high school records must be submitted by KNEC.
  • All other non-US (including French Canadian) records must be evaluated by World Education Services (WES).  WES will analyze international coursework/degrees and provide US equivalents to UAA. The WES requirement applies to all applicants who have attended any institution outside of the United States, (excluding US military) regardless of their citizenship status.

Joint Services Transcripts

UAA accepts credits from Joint Services Transcript (JST), which includes:

  • Officer and Warrant Officer training,
  • joint military training conducted by other services,
  • DANTES funded test scores, and
  • the Air University/Community College of the Air Force.

Just Taking a Class (Non-Degree-Seeking) 

Non-degree-seeking applicants can take most classes without being admitted to a degree program. No transcripts are required for non-degree-seeking students. Non-degree-seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.
