As you know from the news, the threat of infection from COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, remains very real. While there are no known cases in Alaska at this time, taking the proper precautions to prevent the spread of this illness are critical to protecting your health and the health of those around you.

IT Services has been working towards updating billing processes to be more efficient and timely. The new system will automate portions of the billing process resulting in more timely delivery of expenses to departments. With this, IT Services is updating the billing policy concerning fund/orgs. As of March 9, 2020, IT Services will only accept one (1) fund/org per billable service request ticket.

Whitney brings a unique perspective and understanding of the value of mutually beneficial partnerships, hiring local, and the economic impacts of workforce development in the community. Her strategic mindset and robust project management and organizational development experience will be valuable to the future of Career Exploration & Services.

On March 2, leaders throughout the University of Alaska system had the opportunity to meet with state epidemiologist Dr. Joe McLaughlin, who shared the latest information about the novel coronavirus and COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus.

This notice is compliant with the Clery Act and notification to the community regarding emergency management. On Feb. 28, 2020, the University of Alaska Anchorage, in partnership with university departments and local partners, conducted an emergency management exercise and drill.

Dr. John Nofsinger has accepted the role of interim dean of the UAA College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). Dr. Nofsinger is currently a professor of finance and the Seward Chair in international finance for CBPP. He has been instrumental in developing courses for classroom delivery, online and remote locations.

After 38 years of devoted service,Tommy R. Turner is leaving UAA. Tommy came to Alaska in 1974 and began to work at the UAA Campus Bookstore in 1982. He graduated from UAA in 1987 with a degree in Justice and a minor in Sociology. His employment at the McLaughlin Youth Center continued through the decades while he worked at the bookstore — receiving and returning textbooks each semester. No one has touched more textbooks than Tommy Turner.
