UAA is undertaking an expedited program review to meet new fiscal realities resulting from state budget cuts. This week, deans released recommendations on academic program changes including continuation, revision or deletion. This review is an ongoing process, and the deans’ recommendations are just the first step.

As you know, the University of Alaska system is facing a challenging budget situation resulting from a $70 million decrease in state funding over a three-year period. In light of this, last October the Board of Regents charged each university to undertake a review of its academic programs and administrative areas to meet its share of the reduction.

The Union Station Cafe — located on the second floor of the Student Union — is now serving Red Bull. Treat yourself to a 16/24oz Red Bull smoothie or spritzer. Our hours of operations are: Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Important mailroom information for UAA departments

The US Postal Service will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, in honor of President's Day. UAA Mailroom will be open and mail routes will occur as scheduled on campus. FedEx and UPS services will still be processed Monday and go out as scheduled. However, USPS outgoing mail will not be processed until Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Taqueria announces new hours

Taqueria will be closed on Fridays starting this week (Feb. 14) and open Monday–Thursday 11 a.m.–2 p.m. starting next week (Feb. 17–21). Taqueria is UAA's home of the $2 taco. Be sure to check out the burrito and nacho options as well.
