Alex Salov Memorial Concert now streaming

Anchorage Classical Guitar Society presents a memorial concert for Alex Salov, UAA adjunct faculty who taught Japanese classes at UAA for the last 15 years. ACGS concert includes performances by the Anchorage community members, as well as UAA faculty (ACGS president - Dr. Armin Abdihodzic) and alumni.

Backed by more than 700 supporters, the UAA gymnastics team has met the fundraising goal necessary to reinstate its 2021-22 season. The team is clear to start competing this winter while working toward their next fundraising goal.

Seawolves combine for 3.36 overall GPA in 2020-21

Although much of their competitive schedule was thwarted by the pandemic, University of Alaska Anchorage student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom in 2020-21, posting a 3.36 overall grade point average for the academic year.

UA Masking policy update — COVID-19 update from Pat Pitney

Consistent with CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated University of Alaska employees, contractors, students and visitors will no longer be required to wear masks. This change is effective Monday, May 24. People who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear a mask while on university property, at university field sites, and in university vehicles. Unvaccinated individuals do not need to be masked when they are inside a private on-campus residential unit or as allowed by campus-specific exemptions.

On campus for Fall 2021 semester

Faculty and staff are preparing for in-person operations this fall. Employees will begin returning to on-campus work in late May and June. Some functions and activities will be available to students currently taking summer courses. On Aug. 2, the Anchorage campus will open to all faculty, staff and students.

Sean Parnell selected as next UAA Chancellor

Sean Parnell selected as UAA chancellor

UA President Pat Pitney has selected former Alaska Governor Sean Parnell to serve as the next UAA chancellor. Parnell succeeds UAA Interim Chancellor Bruce Schultz and will assume his new position on June 12, 2021.

Be aware of wildlife on and around campus

A black bear with cubs has been spotted on and around the Anchorage campus, specifically in the area near the Engineering & Industry Building. Although foot traffic on campus is minimal, this is a good time to remind everyone to be aware of surroundings and take safety precautions when venturing outside.

Provost announces new College of Arts and Sciences dean

Dr. Jenny McNulty

Dr. Jenny McNulty will begin her new role as dean of UAA College of Arts and Sciences on July 1, 2021. An experienced leader in higher education, Dr. Jenny McNulty comes to UAA from Montana, where she is currently the interim provost and vice chancellor of academic and student affairs at the University of Montana Western and a tenured full professor at the University of Montana.
