“The McKinley Fire: Rebuilding and Lessons Learned” is a joint production of UAA Institute of Social Economic Research, Alaska Center for Energy and Power, and Alaska NSF EPSCoR (National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research). The video is part of EPSCoR’s Fire & Ice project, a five-year study of climate-driven changes to Alaska’s coastal margins and boreal wildfires.

The UAA Grounds Department is looking for hardworking and dependable students to join our team! Students will assist the crew with snow removal, ice control, greenhouse maintenance and flower production, interior plant care, and other campus beautification and safety tasks.

Although the presence of wildlife may delight some and annoy/frighten others, conflicts with wildlife can be avoided if you stay aware and give the animals space. Go about your life (observing from a distance) while giving the animals the respect to go about theirs.

The upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in November and winter closure period in December are just around the corner. I wanted to make employees aware of key dates for recording leave, along with a reminder that any travel you have planned must comply with state mandates and university guidelines.
