Change to parking — no permits needed this year

Due to the greatly reduced number of students and employees on campus this academic year, parking permits will not be required to park in surface lots or parking garages. For students living on campus, a free permit to park in housing lots will be required and is available from University Housing. If you have already purchased a parking permit for the fall semester, Parking Services will automatically issue you a refund.

Seawolf Shuttle paused for 2020-21 academic year

Because the majority of classes this fall will take place via alternate delivery with limited face-to-face courses and plans for the spring ’21 semester remain under review, all Seawolf Shuttle services will be paused for the 2020-21 academic year.

UAA launches Seawolf Mentor

Last spring UAA launched Seawolf Mentor, a peer-to-peer mentorship program designed to help students navigate college life and offer an extra layer of support.

Ray Bradbury Read-A-Thon featuring Consortium Library’s Lorelei Sterling available for streaming

Lorelei Sterling, associate professor and head of access services at the UAA/APU Consortium Library, will read a segment of Fahrenheit 451 during the first annual Ray Bradbury Read-A-Thon this Saturday, Aug. 22. The event begins at 12:30 p.m. AKDT and will be livestreamed at RayBradburyReadAThon.com.

Native Student Services welcomes new student services coordinator

Native Student Services staff would like to welcome and congratulate Paula Jones as the new Student Services Coordinator as of August 3, 2020. Paula comes from the Alaskan village of Kuinerraq (Quinhagak). Paula has a strong relationship with her home community, where most of her family still resides.

Senior Vice Provost Renee Carter-Chapman retires from UAA

Senior Vice Provost Renee Carter-Chapman retired from UAA following more than four decades of service. Her ability to listen and gather talented, dedicated individuals together to reach consensus on how to solve problems and support efforts to achieve goals has served UAA and its home communities well.

UAA Surplus now has items to view and select online!

UAA General Support Services and the Surplus team has implemented a new online method for departments to view inventory and claim items. We are very pleased to be able to offer a new system to UAA departments that will make viewing and selection of items for re-use on campus a better experience!

The UAA Seawolf Transfer Trail is here

The Office of the Registrar, Admissions and several advisors combined efforts to implement a new transfer portal designed to allow prospective transfer students a chance to see how their previous coursework would meet UAA degree requirements. With the Seawolf Transfer Trail tool, it takes as little as 10 minutes to determine how their previous test scores and coursework would transfer to UAA and apply to different associate and baccalaureate degrees.

Student Union open for fall 2020

The Student Union will open to students and faculty/staff on Aug. 24. Weekly hours will be Monday through Friday, 0800 - 1700 (5 p.m.). The Student Union will adhere to all Phase B operating policies/procedures, which includes the closure of the Subway, Taqueria and convenience store at the Information Desk. New additions and alterations include limited Gear Room, virtual programming with the UAA Esports Lounge and a virtual Information Desk, as well as two new vending machines (located in the upper hallway near the Seawolf Sports Complex).
