What new state health mandates mean for UAA

Lorem ipsum

As you have likely heard, Gov. Dunleavy released two new public health mandates Friday night that went into effect at 5 p.m. today and will be re-evaluated on April 11. The first is Health Mandate 11, which is a statewide “stay home” or “shelter-in-place” that aims to slow the spread of COVID-19. When Alaskans must leave their homes, the mandate requires social distancing of six feet. The order also imposes restrictions on businesses, with exceptions for activities considered “essential.” The second is Health Mandate 12. It prohibits in-state travel, with very few exceptions.

To the entire UAA community, thank you.

It has been a Herculean effort, but after one week, UAA's campuses across Southcentral Alaska have successfully transitioned to delivering courses via alternate methods in keeping with social distancing recommendations. As chancellor, I am especially impressed by the can-do spirit and teamwork that has emerged in such a short time. Thank you all! We are doing this together.

Spring withdrawal deadline extended to April 10

The withdrawal deadline has been extended to April 10th in response to COVID-19. Students are encouraged to try the new delivery methods of their courses before choosing to withdraw. If they are an international student, a student athlete, and/or are receiving financial aid or military tuition assistance/VA educational benefits, it is important that students be aware that they may be negatively impacted by withdrawing. Students should reach out to their academic advisor and/or the appropriate office to discuss impacts prior to withdrawing.

Changes to Enrollment Services Call Center

Lorem ipsum

Despite a great deal of effort and collaboration with IT, we have been unable to stand up the Enrollment Services Call Center (786-1480) remotely. Individual employees still have access to their individual work numbers via jabber; otherwise, for the fastest response, students, staff and faculty are encouraged to email.

Access to UAA campus buildings currently restricted

As part of UAA’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, access to UAA campus buildings is currently restricted. In order to preserve the health and safety of our campus community, all buildings are locked. Students and employees who need to be present on campus may access buildings using keys or WolfCards.
