UAA welcomes Karen Markel as new dean of UAA College of Business and Public Policy

Dr. Karen Markel has been named the new dean of the UAA College of Business and Public Policy following a nationwide search. She will join CBPP this coming June 2018, succeeding Dr. Bogdan Hoanca, who has served as the college’s interim dean since March 2017.

Phi Theta Kappa appoints CTC Dean Denise Runge to presidential advisory board

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) has named Dr. Denise K. Runge, dean of UAA's Community & Technical College, to its Presidential Advisory Board. She joins 39 other college presidents from across the nation on the board and will provide input into the organization’s strategic plan, priorities and direction.

Help prevent the spread of mumps

On Dec. 28, 2017, the State of Alaska issued a Public Health Advisory related to the Anchorage mumps outbreak that started during the summer of 2017. This outbreak continues to spread. Vaccination with the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine remains the best way to prevent infection with the mumps virus.

Consortium Library expands hours and consolidates course reserves collection

As of January 3, 2018, all course reserves materials will now be available at the UAA/APU Consortium Library main circulation desk. In order to support student success, we have consolidated the Learning Commons materials into the library’s Course Reserves collection. The library has newly expanded hours for Spring 2018 (open until midnight, Sunday to Thursday) which allows for increased access to the materials.
