Bear Tooth Theatrepub is the city's living room, providing a valuable community space for Anchorage entertainment and events. This month, three UAA programs bring their academics off campus, for a screening and Q&A on Nov. 8 and a public debate Nov. 13.

It has come to the attention of university leadership that flyers with the statement "it's okay to be white" were posted in various places on the UAA campus. Further investigation revealed this is part of a movement occurring at high schools and universities nationwide designed to create racial tension and division with the express goal of eliciting media coverage. UAA piloting program now has its own call sign

University of Alaska Anchorage piloting instructors and students now have their own call sign thanks to an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration. The agreement authorizes the university to use CWOLF, pronounced Seawolf, in honor of UAA’s mascot.

Claudia Lampman to assume role of interim vice provost for student success

Following a thorough internal search process, Dr. Claudia Lampman has been appointed interim vice provost for student success. She will begin in this new role on Nov. 1, 2017. Dr. Lampman is passionate about student success and has demonstrated a willingness and ability to break down barriers, to build bridges across disciplines and departments, and to lead UAA to meet the goals of UAA 2020 and beyond.

UAA's 2017 Security and Fire Safety Report now available

UAA’s 2017 Security & Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security, personal safety and crime statistics for the three previous years. It is now available online at uaa.alaska.edu/safety. Physical copies may be picked up at the Dean of Students office in RH 122.
