Air Force Seawolves reflect on warrior ethos

University of Alaska Anchorage students Aubrey Swammy and Jordan Clark joined Air Force ROTC to serve their country and grow as leaders. This year’s National Character and Leadership Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo. gave them an opportunity to do just that.

Jeffrey Jessee joins UAA as dean of College of Health and vice provost of health programs

Jeffrey Jessee will be joining the UAA College of Health as dean of the college and vice provost of health programs. Jessee's experiences working with governmental, health care and nonprofit organizations position him well to lead UAA's College of Health. He succeeds Bill Hogan, who has been with UAA since 2011 and served as dean since January 2013. Hogan will retire at the end of June.

Mapworks helps remove barriers to student success

Students first arriving at UAA to begin their college experience sometimes find bumpiness on that path. Perhaps they're homesick, struggling in class, feeling isolated and friendless. Mapworks surveys identify problems so UAA staff and faculty can reach out to help solve them, and keep a student on track.

2017 UAA Leadership Conference set for March 24

The 2017 UAA Leadership Conference is a daylong experience to be inspired by student, staff, and faculty leaders at UAA. Hosted by the Emerging Leaders Program, the conference includes multiple leadership workshops, free lunch and a special address by TED speaker Drew Dudley. All students are invited to attend the conference on Friday, March 24, in UAA's Rasmuson Hall.
