The award-winning NCBI Social Inclusion and Equity Workshop is a full-day, experiential process with a series of incremental activities. The Nov. 20 workshop is open to all UAA students, faculty and staff.

September 2023 through April 2024, Disability Services (DS) offices across the state will be offering free monthly virtual training sessions covering a variety of essential DS topics. New offering! As Office for Civil Rights (OCR) sessions are not recorded, DS received many requests for an additional presentation date and OCR responded to the call.

The Office of the Bursar will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 12:30-2 p.m. for a staff event. The Office of the Bursar will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Dec. 22.

Enrollment Services will be closed Nov. 21, all day, for an all staff event.

Facilities & Campus Services units Maintenance & Operations, Planning & Construction, and Environmental Health & Safety will be closed 12:30pm - 3:00pm and General Support Services will be closed 11:30am - 3:00pm on Wednesday, November 8th for an all-hands meeting. For facility related emergencies please contact UPD at 786-1120.

The Enrollment Service Center will be closing at 12 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 1 p.m. on Dec. 22. At the time of closure the phones will be turned off and the lobby will be closed.

Jason Hotch has been appointed UAA's next director of Native Student Services (NSS). As director, Hotch will be responsible for promoting student engagement, belonging and resiliency among Alaska Native, Indigenous and rural students, providing leadership, vision and support to the NSS team.

Please note that UAA General Support Services (Mailroom, Copy & Print, Surplus, Recycling) will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. There will be no afternoon mail routes this day. All FedEx must be received by 10:30 a.m. All other outgoing mail must be received by 11 a.m.

Ethan/Kayaaní J Lauesen is a visual artist based in Fairbanks, Alaska. Their body of work focuses on their Denaakk’e Koyukon Athabaskan and Lingit cultural backgrounds, their queer identity, and how they are perceived in Alaskan communities.

As winter approaches and road conditions start to decline, I would like to clarify our policies surrounding inclement weather and campus closures. Our goal is to minimize the amount of educational disruption when winter weather makes travel to and from campus unsafe.
