Growing up, Benjamin Miller never considered a university education an option for him. With undiagnosed learning disabilities, school was hard. But this summer, the Honors College sophomore is studying abroad in South Africa as a recipient of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.

UAA junior Henrique Miller recently received the Goldwater Scholarship, a prestigious honor awarded to students pursuing careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. He hopes that one day his research will contribute to the field of plasma nuclear fusion.
