UAA IT Services announces FY21 telecommunications rate

The FY21 Telecommunications rate for the Anchorage and community campuses is approved. The FY21 rate is a combined rate, covering both telecommunication services, phone and handset costs. With this rate we are giving departments the opportunity to participate in a handset cost reduction.

UAA Staff Morale Survey - Spring 2021

If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to complete the UAA Staff Morale Survey - Spring 2021. The survey addresses key topics and asks how you feel as a staff member at UAA. Results will be used to inform Staff Council discussions with the Chancellor, Chancellor's Cabinet, Staff Alliance, UA President and the Board of Regents on the state of morale at UAA.

UAA Chancellor Search: Feedback accepted through April 29

The UAA Chancellor Search Committee has recommended eight candidates to meet with the UAA and Anchorage community in the final phase of the chancellor review process. These eight leaders were chosen from a pool of diverse and highly qualified candidates and will participate in student and community forums April 13-15.

Dr. Amana Talala Mbise, UAA Multicultural Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of Social Work, is the finalist for the social work faculty position in immigration and refugee social services. Mbise's presentation, entitled "Working with Refugees and Immigrants in Alaska: Implications for social work research, practice, and education," is scheduled for April 28, 2021, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Please join us for his presentation.

UAA Dental Hygiene students are looking for their board examination patients!! Typically patients that qualify have not had their teeth cleaned in a long time (5+ years) since students need a certain amount of "build up" on teeth to take their national examination board.

UAA will honor Heather Flynn and Susan Malutin with the title of Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters and will award Doug Pope, Gary Turner and Lila Vogt the Meritorious Service Award at the virtual spring commencement ceremony.

Human services alumna Jennifer O’Neal will serve as student speaker for the spring 2021 graduate degree hooding ceremony — a far cry from when she was a teenager, unsure if she would or even could pursue higher education.

Cassie Keefer's last day at UAA is April 30. Though her family has loved their time in Alaska, they look forward to being closer to family again in the lower 48. Cassie joined the Enrollment Services team as our inaugural Executive Director of Admissions 2 1/2 years ago with a wealth of experience. During her time as a Seawolf, she has united three distinct areas to develop a dynamic team with a shared mission - grow enrollment and remove barriers tied to admissions.
