Join us on Thursday, April 30, from 1–2:30 p.m. to help brainstorm alternative delivery methods (if necessary) for Campus Kick-Off 2020. Campus Kick-Off will be held Aug. 22 this year, traditionally starting at 5 p.m. in the afternoon. All are invited to come discuss.

University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen and all senior administrators in the university system, including faculty who hold significant administrative leadership roles, will take mandatory furloughs during the coming fiscal year to help relieve budget pressures.

Meet the three graduation speakers for UAA’s spring Class of 2020 as they discuss perseverance, interconnectedness, community and graduating during a global pandemic. Clare Baldwin and Alex Jorgensen are the student commencement speakers; Virginia Groeschel is the graduate hooding speaker.

For the spring 2020 semester, Edna DeVries and Vic Fischer will be awarded the Meritorious Service Award. This award is bestowed to an individual who has demonstrated significant work in the area of public, academic, volunteer or philanthropic service to UAA, one of the community campuses or an Alaska community.

For the spring 2020 semester, Jean Pollard and Molly McCammon will be awarded the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, and John Torgerson with the Honorary Doctor of Laws. The criterion for individuals to receive an honorary degree from UAA is evidence of a significant and lasting contribution to the university, the state of Alaska or to the individuals' discipline or profession.

Consultant coordinator and College of Engineering Alumni Chapter president Virginia Groeschel shares the importance of being a force for positivity.

On May 8, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. AKDT, Alaska INBRE is co-sponsoring a virtual NIH Grant Writing workshop. The workshop is presented by Dr. John Robertson from Grant Writer's Seminars & Services. Register by noon on April 29 to receive the workbook prior to the workshop. Registration open through May 7.
