We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Terry Nelson has been named the Associate Dean for the College of Business and Public Policy after a search for a new associate dean was conducted. She will assume her new position on Monday, April 27th, 2020.

We miss our grads on campus and we know you do too! On May 3, at 1 p.m., we will launch a special website “A Tribute to Our Grads: UAA Spring 2020 Graduation Day Celebration” dedicated to honoring our grads, and we want to include your personal messages of congratulations in the celebration as well. We want your photos or video messages from wherever you are.

As online communication becomes our primary mode, it is important to be armed with tips on etiquette to prevent any misperceptions that may cause offense. When talking to someone in person you see facial expressions and hear the tone of their voice, which is missed when sending an email or posting on Blackboard. Here are some reminders to keep in mind as our computers become our primary voice.

The University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee are coming together to provide a socially distanced gaming experience! The UAA's Got Talent deadline has passed and it's now time for you to vote for your favorite student talents by liking them on Facebook! Students will win a variety of prizes (including webcams, microphones, toilet paper and trophies) in four distinct categories: vocal, instrumental, variety and art.

Dr. Brock has assumed the position of Associate Dean for Academics as of Monday, April 13. Dr. Brock has been with UAA since August 2009; she currently holds the academic rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering with tenure in the College of Engineering. During her time at UAA, she has demonstrated high standards in teaching, research and service.

The UAA Campus Bookstore's 23rd Admin Professional of the Year Award goes to Susan Moran, Student Success Advisor for UAA Community Technical College, Transportation & Power Division. A big thank you goes to Susan Moran for her outstanding contributions to UAA.

It’s been a drastically different semester for students at UAA, as the university responded rapidly to COVID-19 and moved all classes to alternate delivery. But students with the help of professors, peers and university leadership have made the transition.
