Alumni Spotlight: Jon Bittner

Jonathan Bittner

He’s co-founded an inventor’s guild, organized ‘hackathons’ for computer programmers and brought Frisbee-throwing robots to the front lawn of the library. Jon Bittner has ideas for the economic future of Anchorage and, after hearing his contributions and absorbing his enthusiasm, it’s fairly surprising he hadn’t been named to Alaska’s “Top Forty Under 40” before.

Kerre Shelton, a UAA journalism graduate, sits at the helm of this massive undertaking, making sure her 500 employees scattered statewide are communicating effectively and keeping Alaskans as safe, savvy and responsible as possible when it comes to their health.

Seeing a need for a co-working space in Anchorage, UAA alumna Brit Szymoniak and M.P.A. grad student Katherine Jernstrom came up with the idea of The Boardroom—a bright, stylish new co-working hub. After just a few months, this successful entrepreneurial duo has nearly reached The Boardroom's capacity and has plans to expand in May.
