2018 Japanese Summer Festival at UAA

The 2018 Japanese Summer Festival will take place this Saturday, Aug. 4, noon to 5 p.m. at UAA's Lucy Cuddy Hall. Enjoy traditional Japanese food, games and cultural demonstrations to entertain the whole family. Free admission.

Inupiat artist and UAA alumna works to bring back our stories

Britt’Nee Brower is an Inupiat artist, occupational safety and health alumna and current Native arts major. Her work combines traditional Inupiat elements with contemporary trends. She recently released a coloring book, titled Names of Animals, in an effort to preserve the Inupiat language.

UAA Honors College cohort explores Alaska-Cuba connections

A cohort from the University Honors College recently traveled to Cuba for undergraduate research work, supported by a three-year pilot affiliation between UAA, the Anchorage Museum and the Ludwig Foundation in Havana, Cuba.

A needle in a haystack: UAA researchers are on the hunt for ticks in Alaska

As summers in Alaska have trended warmer, the potential for nonnative ticks to invade Anchorage and Southcentral is on the rise. Two UAA professors, with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, are researching tick threats and creating a public database to report sightings.
