Seawolf hockey meets $3 million Aug. 30 fundraising goal

Today, I’m writing to share exciting news. Thanks to the passionate and determined fundraising efforts of coaches, student-athletes, alumni, boosters, community leaders and corporate donors from across our city, state and nation, UAA Seawolf hockey earned reinstatement. As of yesterday, the goal of $3 million has been successfully reached and exceeded. More than $3.1 million is accounted for, assuring hockey’s future in Seawolf Nation.

Evacuation drills scheduled Sept. 13-17

The Office of Emergency Management is teaming up with the UPD Auxiliary Emergency Team and Facilities employees to conduct evacuation drills of all academic buildings. Policy requires that when alarms are activated, all occupants must quickly leave the building using the NEAREST exit, and should meet their office or class group at the Emergency Assembly Area. Please notify officials if you know of someone who cannot or will not evacuate.

​UAA School of Education granted advanced-level CAEP accreditation

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) has granted accreditation at the advanced level to the School of Education for its post-baccalaureate and graduate programs leading to teacher licensure, certification or endorsement.

Good news on funding for state scholarships, grant and WWAMI

Today we received good news from Governor Dunleavy about his decision to immediately fund the state’s Alaska Performance Scholarship [APS], Alaska Education Grant [AEG] and the Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho medical education [WWAMI] programs. This means our students who have earned these scholarships and grants can be assured of funding for their education this year.

Mail routes now on daily (Monday-Friday) delivery

Mail routes have returned to daily (Monday-Friday) delivery to all departments, effective Aug. 2, 2021. We will no longer hold department mail for pick up. All mail will be delivered to departmental locations on normally scheduled routes. Staff working remotely will receive mail at their department mail locations.

Subway opens Aug. 30

Seawolf Dining is pleased to announce that Subway is opening Aug. 30. The store will be open Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on the lower level of the Student Union
