UAA professors connect new teachers with classroom libraries

Assistant professors Kathryn Ohle and Jennifer McKay have joined forces to help newly graduated UAA teachers build their classroom libraries. With support from the UAA Center for Community Engagement and Learning, and book donations from retiring teachers, the project is off to a successful start.

Collaborating to bridge the gap

Hattie Harvey, an assistant professor of early childhood development in UAA's College of Education, is collaborating on a year-long project with Cook Inlet Native Head Start's Yup'ik Immersion Program. The project aims to help bridge the gap in early childhood education for families who are fluent in Yup'ik and those just learning the language.
