It's National Suicide Prevention Week. Join us on social media to recognize those who have helped you at some point. We all need help sometimes and it's always okay to ask for help. Tag friends on social media this month that have had a positive impact in your life with #mostimpactful and challenge them to tag others that have helped them! Physical distancing during COVID-19 doesn't mean you have to feel alone.

Chancellor focuses on alignment of UAA campuses

I am writing today to announce a new change and leadership group to review and make recommendations about UAA’s structural and mission alignment in relation to our multi-campus environment. This group will be led by Dr. John Stalvey, special assistant to the chancellor, and is charged with optimizing campus relationships across UAA with improved coordination, alignment and organization of UAA’s community campuses.

In June, I sent a communication reaffirming UAA’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. With the fall 2020 semester underway, I want to provide you with an update regarding new and ongoing efforts to make UAA a more equitable institution.

Chancellor update on Strategic Planning and Shared Services

It is my pleasure to update you on two major universitywide initiatives. As you may recall, I launched strategic planning and shared services initiatives at the end of the spring semester, and I am happy to report that we made substantial progress over the summer.

Financial Aid priority processing deadline is Sept. 4

The UAA Office of Financial Aid's priority processing deadline for Fall 2020 Student Payment Requests, Administration Scholarships, and UA Foundation Fund Payments Requests is Friday, Sept. 4, by 5 p.m. All requests received by this deadline are guaranteed entry by the UAA Fall 2020 Payment Deadline at 5 p.m. on Sept. 14.

David Weaver accepts executive director of Campus Services position

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bruce Schultz is pleased to announce that David Weaver has accepted the executive director of Campus Services position at UAA effective immediately. As executive director, David will lead the areas of housing operations and finance, campus dining, conference services, Alaska Airlines Center events management, Wendy Williamson Auditorium, a new Seawolf Gear Shop (apparel and branded merchandise), parking, mail room, print shop and campus recycling.

Title IX and COVID-19 trainings available this week

Beginning Sept. 1, students, staff and faculty will have access to two trainings, the annual Title IX training and a special COVID-19 training designed for the university community.

New COVID-19 protocols website for students living on campus

Do you work with or advise a student living on-campus? Please help us in our efforts to continue educating residents about important information they need to know and comply with around COVID-19. On-Campus Living has created a comprehensive website to assist residents in understanding COVID-19 protocol.
