Banner 8 unavailable starting Sept. 1

Beginning Sept. 1, 2020, users can no longer use Banner 8. All functional areas, including HR, Finance, Student and Financial Aid, have had access to the upgraded platform since October 2018.

UAA Surplus now has items to view and select online!

UAA General Support Services and the Surplus team has implemented a new online method for departments to view inventory and claim items. We are very pleased to be able to offer a new system to UAA departments that will make viewing and selection of items for re-use on campus a better experience!

The UAA Seawolf Transfer Trail is here

The Office of the Registrar, Admissions and several advisors combined efforts to implement a new transfer portal designed to allow prospective transfer students a chance to see how their previous coursework would meet UAA degree requirements. With the Seawolf Transfer Trail tool, it takes as little as 10 minutes to determine how their previous test scores and coursework would transfer to UAA and apply to different associate and baccalaureate degrees.

Campus community protective equipment

UAA EHS and Facilities departments have been working to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our campus community. Great effort has been made to thoroughly clean and disinfect all touch-points in campus buildings. We are also providing community protective equipment, such as hand sanitizer at building entrances and supplies for disinfecting in classrooms, as well as ensuring all soap dispensers for handwashing are working and filled.

Student Union open for fall 2020

The Student Union will open to students and faculty/staff on Aug. 24. Weekly hours will be Monday through Friday, 0800 - 1700 (5 p.m.). The Student Union will adhere to all Phase B operating policies/procedures, which includes the closure of the Subway, Taqueria and convenience store at the Information Desk. New additions and alterations include limited Gear Room, virtual programming with the UAA Esports Lounge and a virtual Information Desk, as well as two new vending machines (located in the upper hallway near the Seawolf Sports Complex).

Resources for student employee supervisors

Career Services is excited to announce that we have recently updated our employee intranet to include a plethora of resources for student employee supervisors. This page now includes resources to assist student employee supervisors in recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, and training student employees in both a remote and in-person environment. It is our sincere hope that these resources will alleviate stress or confusion, streamline the hiring and onboarding process, and result in students being hired in a timely fashion.

BOR rescinds decision to study UAS-UAF merger and provides new direction

In a special meeting on Aug. 5, the University of Alaska Board of Regents voted 9-0 to rescind its June 4 motion to prepare a conceptual plan for merging the University of Alaska Southeast and the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and passed a new motion directing the president to work with the chancellors and shared governance in a transparent and inclusive manner to accomplish four key directives, including developing clarity and standards for administrative and instructional costs as well as redoubling efforts on collaboration across the system.

Reporting a COVID-positive case on campus

In an effort to keep everyone safe who’s working and attending classes on campus, UAA has a plan for reporting and tracking those employees and students who get positive results for their COVID-19 test. Our process begins when the person with the COVID-19 diagnosis uses our designated telephone and email for that reporting purpose. Please call (907) 205-6941 and email uaa_ehsrms@alaska.edu to start the process. Case management will be supported by the Environmental Health & Safety Department as well as public heath contact tracers.

Megan Riebe appointed Acting University of Alaska Foundation President

The Executive Committee of the UA Foundation Board of Directors has appointed Megan Riebe as the acting UA Foundation President effective Aug. 22, 2020, following the retirement of current UA Foundation President Susan Foley.

Report of COVID-19 in the Student Union

A member of UAA's contracted cleaning team tested positive after working in the Student Union on the Anchorage campus. The individual last worked in the Student Union building on July 21 from 7 p.m.–1 a.m. Since finding out they were infected, this contracted employee has not been in the building and has been self-isolating. We ask that you please respect the privacy of this individual during this time.
