In watching news reports, video feeds, and social media, I want to recognize the pain and misery suffered by the people of Ukraine after the invasion of the Russian Federation’s military forces. While it’s up to our national leaders to address the international crisis and preserve and protect our nation’s interests and people, we must not turn a blind eye to the carnage and cost of war for all and speak up about it.

The Seawolf Food Pantry is asking for donations from the UAA community to assist in stocking the shelves before it opens to help students who experience food insecurity.

Help slow the spread of COVID-19 with your smartphone

We invite you to use a new smartphone tool called Exposure Notification Express (ENX). ENX will improve the ability to slow community spread of COVID-19 by empowering Alaskans to act quickly if they come into contact with an individual who later tests positive for the virus. The system will be available on iOS Tuesday, Jan. 11, and on Android Jan. 18. To opt in, turn on Exposure Notifications in your iPhone settings or download the Alaska COVID ENX app in the Google Play store. The tool is completely voluntary and anyone in Alaska can use it.

Latest: NWCCU Evaluation

I received news today that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has officially accepted UAA’s Mid-Cycle Self-Evaluation Report, with no additional requirements noted. This is an outstanding result for UAA, our students, and the communities we serve.

Capitol Report for Feb. 18, 2022

This week the governor’s amended budget was introduced with a set-aside for UAF’s Alaska Center for Energy and Power. Additionally, student leaders from around the state came to the Capitol to advocate on behalf of the university system, and UA System leadership was invited to speak on a panel about federal infrastructure spending at the annual Alaska Municipal League legislative conference.

Announcing changes to Adobe software on the keyserver (end of life - May 9, 2022)

Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and Adobe CS6 will be discontinued at UA on May 9, 2022. While access to PDF authoring and Creative Suite tools is essential, the inherent issues have made continued use of these older versions no longer possible.
