We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Terry Nelson has been named the Associate Dean for the College of Business and Public Policy after a search for a new associate dean was conducted. She will assume her new position on Monday, April 27th, 2020.

The UAA's Got Talent deadline has passed and it's now time for you to vote for your favorite student talents by liking them on Facebook! Students will win a variety of prizes (including webcams, microphones, toilet paper and trophies) in four distinct categories: vocal, instrumental, variety and art.

Dr. Brock has assumed the position of Associate Dean for Academics as of Monday, April 13. Dr. Brock has been with UAA since August 2009; she currently holds the academic rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering with tenure in the College of Engineering. During her time at UAA, she has demonstrated high standards in teaching, research and service.

The UAA Campus Bookstore's 23rd Admin Professional of the Year Award goes to Susan Moran, Student Success Advisor for UAA Community Technical College, Transportation & Power Division. A big thank you goes to Susan Moran for her outstanding contributions to UAA.

As Zoom security has been prevalent in the news, we want to make sure that everyone is aware not only of best practices related to security working remotely but also using video conferencing platforms like Zoom.

Junland Navarro works as the Therapeutic Lab Coordinator in the Health, Physical Education & Recreation Department. Junland single-handedly negotiated a contract with an outside vendor for emergency responders, which not only facilitated community relations but also positively affected his department’s budget.

If you have purchased a parking permit for the 2019-2020 academic year or 2020 spring semester, you may be eligible to receive a partial refund for your spring parking permit due to COVID-19.

As the co-chairs of the provost search committee, we are pleased to share a positive update regarding this important search for the next provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at UAA. After limiting a robust initial pool of candidates to a smaller set of semifinalists, each of whom the search committee interviewed, we are now moving forward to schedule virtual campus visits for four highly qualified finalists.

Due to COVID-19, UAA is unable to hold our traditional Commencement Ceremony this Spring. We are still hopeful that students may be able to participate in a future in-person ceremony, but unfortunately we’re not sure what that will look like at this time. Students still want an opportunity to celebrate and we want to celebrate their accomplishments with them. As part of these efforts, we will launch a new website on May 3 at 1 p.m. — A Tribute to Our Grads: UAA Spring 2020 Graduation Day Celebration.
