Dominique Kurth had already worked as a bookkeeper when she enrolled at UAA to seek accounting and finance degrees. Her diligence reaped rewards: stellar grades, an internship and a job waiting after graduation.

Mistee has gone from entry-level to executive, all while earning two UAA degrees. This year's Alumni Emerging Leader recipient oversees key support at Assets Inc., a local agency that advocates for Anchorage residents who experience developmental disabilities and serious mental illnesses.

On Sept. 11, art student Zachariah Martin will unveil his addition to the EXIT Art Project—a student-crafted permanent gallery that capitalizes on a little-known corner of the Fine Arts Building. His mural is a sweep of Alaska Native contemporary culture, fourth in the series.

Time to take a good look at the newly revamped Wells Fargo Sports Complex. You'd feel pretty good too, getting a facelift after 36 years. The sports complex opened in 1978 to serve a campus clustered around the Cuddy Quad. Now, UAA stretches east a mile!
