Spring 2007: 'An Inconvenient Truth' and Truth on Campus Week

Jan. 29 through Feb. 2, UAA is sponsoring a Truth on Campus week to encourage the UAA community to rise to the challenge of addressing global warming. Sponsored by the UAA Sustainability Club, USUAA Sustainability Committee, UAA Sustainability Council, EPA Pollution Prevention Grant, USUAA Recycling Program and ARAMARK.

On Jan. 29 through Jan. 30, the Truth on Campus Fair will be held at the Student Union from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants include:

  • Renewable Energy Alaska Project
  • Greenstar
  • US Green Buildings Council
  • Alaska Chapter
  • DIRRT
  • Earth Watch
  • Alaska Grown
  • UAA Bike Club
  • UAA Sustainability Club
  • Alaska Youth for Environmental Action
  • Alaska Conservation Solutions

The acclaimed movie An Inconvenient Truth will show multiple times at the Student Union Café, Leadership Lab and Commons on:

  1. Jan. 29, Student Union Café, 11:30 to 1 p.m.
  2. Jan. 30. Student Union Café, 11:30 to 1 p.m.
  3. Jan. 30, Student Union 206, 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  4. Jan. 31, Student Union 206, 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  5. Jan. 31, Commons Cafeteria, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 1 in RH 101 from 7:15 to 10 p.m. will be a public screening followed by a panel discussion with a question and answer session.  In attendance will be community and university experts on climate change.

A student and faculty discussion will take place on Feb. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Den.  For more information call 786.1220 or 786.4973.
