Guitar Ensemble to perform in Oregon

by Kathleen McCoy  |

The UAA Guitar Ensemble travels to Portland, Oregon this weekend to perform as part of the Music Educators National Conference, a biennial convocation for professional music educators from the Pacific Northwest. Their appearance is by special invitation from Conference President Jim Rice, how heard the ensemble perform during a visit to UAA in the Spring of 2006.

Under the direction of Professor Rozanne Wilson-Marsh, the seven members of the ensemble are guitar majors and advanced students selected through audition. Their Portland program will include adapted chamber works by Corelli, Vivaldi, and Albeniz, as well as representative literature by well known South American guitar composers. This trip was made possible through generous grants by the Office of Undergraduate Research, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Office of Academic Affairs.

Students and faculty are encouraged to invite friends and relatives in the Portland area to attend the ensemble's performance Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. in the Portland Convention Center Auditorium.
