2007 Jazz Week

Annual festival will feature tenor saxophonist and trumpter Jay Thomas, vocalist Becca Duran, pianist organist Barney McClure, guitarist Mike Denny and drummer Diamond Fuller The UAA Department of Music will present its 21st Annual Jazz Week, March 7-10.  Packed with exciting performances and workshops, this year's Jazz Week will feature tenor saxophonist and trumpeter Jay Thomas, vocalist Becca Duran and pianist and organist Barney McClure, guitarist Mike Denny and drummer Diamond Fuller.  During a two-day residency, these exceptional artists will collaborate on arrangements for performance and will mentor student groups in daily workshops that are open to the public.

Jazz Week student performances include:

Wed., March 7, 7:30 p.m., Alaska Jazz Workshop student combos

Thurs., March 8, 7:30 p.m., UAA jazz vocalists and instrumentalists

Advance ticket prices for these performances are $10 general admission; $5 students, seniors, military; $2 for UAA students with current ID.  Tickets at the door are $15 general admission; $ 10 students, seniors and military; $7 UAA students with current ID.

Jazz Week featured artists' performances include:

Fri., March 9, 7:30 p.m., Thomas and Duran with Anchorage's All-Star musicians Sat., March 10, 7:30 p.m., Fuller, Denny, McClure, Duran and Thomas perform

Advance tickets prices for these performances are $15 general admission; $10 students, seniors and military; $5 UAA students with current ID.  Ticket prices at the door are $20 general admission; $15 students, seniors and military; $10 UAA students with current ID.
