No students injured in incident

An armed robbery occurred in the Main Apartment Complex (MAC) Laundry/Mail room last night at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) campus.  The suspect, described as an African American male in his late teens or early twenties, approximately 5'7", 140-160 lbs, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and a black with blue stripes Boston Red Sox baseball cap.  The suspect demanded money from a student and left the MAC with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the University Police Department (UPD), the suspect has not been apprehended.

"This reminds us that we all need to be sensitive to and aware of our surroundings," said UPD Chief Dale Pittman.  "Personal safety is always a priority."

UAA routinely provides escorts to accompany students, faculty and staff to any location on campus as requested.  The UAA community is encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to the UPD.

If anyone has any information, please contact UPD at 786-1120.
