Thesis defense

Janell Smith successfully defended her dissertation at Florida International University on June 15. Her thesis was based on her activities at the Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies. Dr. Smith defended Food Customs of Rural and Urban Inupiaq Elders and their Relationships to Select Nutrition Parameters, Food Insecurity, Health, and Physical and Mental Functioning which is being finalized and will be posted on the ICHS web page and will also be located here . Dr. Smith currently holds a National Science Foundation Dissertation Enhancement Award through ICHS for her work and will be conducting additional research in Alaska this summer.
