Disability Mentoring Day

by Kathleen McCoy  |

October is National Disability Month. On Oct. 17, UAA will join the Municipality of Anchorage, ACCESS Alaska and Assistive Technology of Alaska for Disability Mentor Day, a national program that promotes career development for students and job seekers with disabilities. On this day, mentees will shadow workplace mentors and gain exposure to the world of work and receive information for career exploration.
To help prepare volunteer mentors, ACCESS Alaska will offer mentor training sessions lasting 90 minutes on Sept. 28. The training session will address disability awareness, frequently asked questions and the role of a mentor participant.
