by Kathleen McCoy  |

You are invited to come tap your toes at the first concert in the Jazz Week Benefit Concert Series on Sept. 26, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the UAA Arts Building Recital Hall. This is the first in what is to be an annual event sponsored by the UAA Department of Music. Proceeds will benefit Jazz Week 2008, March 5-8.

The concert will feature special guest artist Melissa "Jazzmom" Fischer, jazz vocalist and pianist with Anchorage's accomplished musicians, Pat Owens on trumpet and flugelhorn, Preston Keating on drums and Dirk Westfall on bass.  Jazz styles will range from swing and Latin to smooth jazz and sultry, smoky ballads.  Fischer has released four CD's over the past eight years and continues to be a popular and busy performer around Anchorage.  You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear these fine musicians in the intimate setting of UAA's Recital Hall.

Advance tickets are $2 for UAA students, $5 for seniors, students and military, and $10 for general admission.  Tickets purchased on the day of the event are $7 UAA students, $10 for seniors, students and military, and $15 for general admission.  There is no reserved seating. Tickets are sold at the UAA Box Office, 786-4TIX (4849).
