by Kathleen McCoy  |

The Department of Anthropology and Enrollment Services are offering a short-term study abroad adventure to sunny Merida, Mexico in Jan. 2008. The trip will take place from Jan. 2 to 12, with 5 evening class meetings prior to the trip in Nov. and Dec. You can earn 1 to 3 elective credits for ANTH 297 or 397 (Independent Study on Ancient Mexico) and experience for yourself the wonders of the Maya as well as modern Mexico while living with host families and visiting impressive ruins, exquisite cenotes, a Mayan community and beautiful beaches. The class will be taught by Dr. Christine Hanson of the Department of Anthropology. The program fee is $2550 per student, and includes airfare, ground transportation, accommodations, most meals, bilingual local guides, entry fees to attractions and insurance. Course tuition and books are not included in the program fee. The deadline to apply is Oct. 15, and space is limited, so don't delay! For more information or to apply call (907) 786.1573 or e-mail doni@uaa.alaska.edu or visit Enrollment Services in the UC.
