Ultimate Alaska Percussion and Performance Festival - Oct. 26, 2008

Percussion enthusiasts of all ages and types are invited to this ultimate celebration of their percussion interests hosted by UAA percussion instructor and Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Alaska Chapter president John Damberg. The two-day festival will feature clinics, workshops and performances by a variety of Alaskan professional and university percussionists and percussion ensembles. Also involved and performing is internationally renowned guest percussionist, vocalist and composer Valeria Naranjo who is known for her pioneering efforts in West African keyboard percussion music.

The festival starts on Friday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. with a concert in the UAA Fine Arts Building Recital Hall featuring Naranjo and an opening performance by the UAA Percussion Ensemble.

Ticket prices are: $15 adults, $10 students and PAS members, $7 UAA students. On Saturday, October 27, registration opens at 8:30 a.m. for the all-day events of workshops, clinics and concerts in the UAA Fine Arts Building, culminating in another concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Tickets for daytime events are: $15 adults, $10 PAS members, students and seniors. Tickets for the evening concert are also $15 and $10 respectively, or a special combined admission price for both the Saturday day events and the Saturday evening concert is: $25 adults, $15 PAS members, students and seniors.
