UPD Office of Emergency Preparedness meets to discuss formation of police auxiliary team

by Kathleen McCoy  |

The University Police Department Office of Emergency Preparedness will host an informational meeting on Friday, Oct. 26 to discuss the formation of a police auxiliary team. The group will likely take the form of a Community Emergency Response Team (http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/index.shtm) and will receive training in directing crowds and traffic, minor fire suppression, search and rescue, first aid and more. Employee members would serve as volunteers, on call by pager in case of emergency or disaster. Periodic training sessions, exercises and drills will be held to keep the group cohesive and motivated. If this opportunity appeals to you, join us for our first meeting at ESH 210 at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. Contact Lt. Ron Swartz at 786-1149 for more information.
