2008 Alaska PreMed Summit

The 3rd Annual Alaska PreMed Summit will be held Saturday, March 29, at UAA and via videoconference at UAF and UAS.

Presented by the Alaska WWAMI Biomedical Program and the UAA Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship, the PreMed Summit is designed for anyone interested in a career in medicine, including undergraduate and high school students, high school counselors, college advisors and parents. Summit participants will have the opportunity to hear pre-medical undergraduates, current medical students, medical school graduates in residency training and practicing physicians describe their experiences.

Participants will gain knowledge of how to apply to U.S. medical schools, including WWAMI (Alaska's Medical School), participate in a mock medical school interview and tour the Alaska WWAMI Program first-year medical student facilities. The special focus of the 2008 Alaska PreMed Summit will be on the MCAT Examination.

Keynote Speaker: Jay Butler, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Alaska Department of Health and Social Services

Special Guest: Michelle Sparacino, Director of Test Administration and Operations, MCAT Division, Association of American Medical Colleges
