Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Linda Lazzell is pleased to announce that Kaela Parks, UAA Director of Disability Support Services, has been elected National Chair of the Disability Concerns Knowledge Community within the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).

NASPA Knowledge Communities provide an opportunity for NASPA members across the United States and internationally to access information and resources in a specific subject matter that pertains to the Student Affairs profession. The Disability Concerns Knowledge Community addresses issues of equal access and equal opportunity in higher education.

In the past the position has been appointed, but this year marked the start of a new process requiring the NASPA Knowledge Community to hold elections for the National Chair position. Kaela Parks will serve one year as chair-elect and then assume the chair position for a two year term beginning at the 2009 Annual Conference and ending in 2011. Congratulations to Kaela.

Kaela is a UAA alumna, who graduated in May '05 with an M.Ed. in Adult Education with a concentration in Distance Learning and Technology.
